Six months down and six months to go! Midyear is a practical moment to pause and make a few focused moves for your brand.
In my notebook this June, I wrote down five brand actions I am encouraging solo lawyers, small law firms, and nonprofits to try.
It does not necessarily require a full rebrand or a dramatic overhaul – just a handful of purposeful actions that make it easier to reach your ideal audiences, understand you, and work with you.
1. Write It Down
Carry a little notebook or use your favorite device to get down ideas, questions, and moments as they come up.
Jot down values, services, or short stories for your materials, social media posts, blogs, or talking points.
2. Reach Out
Say hi to a former client or networking friend – no pitch, just a real, “How are you doing?” Ask what they are working on and what is top of mind.
Collect two or three testimonials from past or current clients and add them to your materials. Read them and enjoy them! They will lift you up and remind you of the value you bring.
3. Refresh Presence
Review and refresh your LinkedIn, website, and materials – have your messaging and design lost their way? Does it capture your current services?
Don't overlook your email signature – check your links and add one clear call to action.
4. Refine Story
Run through your elevator pitch and switch it up, make sure it reflects your current service.
Say yes to one networking or speaking opportunity to share your updated story.
5. Review Metrics
Note where your ideal clients and partnerships actually came from in the last 6 months.
Look out for patterns and decide one thing you’ll do more of and one thing you’ll do less of.
Two questions for your next six months
What is one small thing you would love to do more of in the next six months for your brand and your business?
Is there a number from this notebook – 1 through 5 – that you want to take action on first?
You do not have to tackle everything at once. Pick one action, give it your attention this week, and let your midyear brand work be steady, doable, and genuinely supportive of the business you are building.
